PSLEM is a non-profit organisation that provides social, psychological and financial support for people living with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disorder where the person's body makes antibodies that attack his or her own tissues. SLE can affect the skin, joints, brain, kidneys, lungs, in fact almost any organ in the body. Sadly, 90% of SLE patients are young women, usually between the ages of 15 to 40. Formed in 1994, today PSLEM has about 2,800 members.
