The Lost food Project exists to:
· Gather the vast amount of quality surplus food – food that was scheduled for the bin – and safely redirect it to the most vulnerable members of Malaysian society;
· Promote recycling of excess food not fit for human consumption – this benefits local communities and protects our environment; and
· Raise awareness and understanding about the importance of reducing food waste through school education and public awareness campaigns.
We believe Malaysia could be a country where food is no longer wasted, where millions at risk of undernourishment are fed with good quality food. Where everyone is well educated, informed and understands that throwing away good food is unacceptable when people are hungry and when our environment pays the price of the current vast overproduction.
We currently operate in the Klang Valley, but our intention is to expand to other parts of Malaysia and eventually across other ASEAN member countries.
