Kelab Kebajikan & Pendidikan Puncak ( Puncak Charity and Educational Club) which is registered NGO with collaboration of Riverside Travel and Tours is fully engaged in charitable and educational projects to alleviate the plight of the poor in the Bujang Valley, Kedah. We are also engaged in various activities to help conserve the environment with the main emphasis to save mangrove forests along Merbok River from the encroachment of pollution and island conservation in Pulau Bidan. It is a small, unpopulated island 20 minutes off the coast of Tanjung Dawai, Kedah, in the north of Malaysia. It is also close to Penang, about 45 minutes travelling by car to the jetty. Pulau Bidan is used as a layover and shelter by local fishermen and fishing enthusiasts. The water around the island is rich with different kinds of marine life, and fishing boats are seen regularly around the island. The island has a long, sandy beach and a few smaller beaches, and its hills are lushly covered with tropical rainforest. It is host to a range of wildlife and natural biodiversity, including marine life. Our goal is to build a small community on the island to protect the island from irresponsible use and conserve its natural ecology, and to host a space for visitors, fishermen, and travelers to come and visit in a sustainable and responsible way. We want to apply principles of Permaculture and ecology to guide our work on the island, gaining experience and knowledge in the process. In the future, we would like the island to be a place for education and research, to be able to transfer knowledge and experience to and from others. We would love to host volunteers with passion in sustainable living, love of nature, and an open heart.
